Chordophones
Chordophones produce sound by vibrating strings (usually transferred by a bridge to a soundboard).
Idiophones
Idiophones produce sound through the vibration of the instrument itself (such as a vibrating bar).
Aereophones
Aerophones produce sound by vibrating a column of air. Wind instruments, sirens, and organs are examples.
Membranophones
Memobranophones produce sound via a vibrating membrane. Includes drums and kazoos.
